At the begining of New Year 2011!

When I try to summarize the passing year 2010 I would like to estimate this year as rather good time for the company. The main reason of satisfaction is a progress in terms of growing turnover, which indicates that we found new Customers and the good perspective for the future. The largest group of our customers are home gardeners. We believe that our strategy of information exchange about the effects of our inocula in the Web as well as access to information delivered by us in the Web as well in TV has been successful.

In the category of products dedicated for professionals we have noted higher orders level. Despite of very high production effects (in Spain) we are still waiting for an "avalanche" of new orders which as we are feeling is very close. We are sure that our original technique of application of living mycelium which is unique in the world's scale will be highly appreciated by many customers as it has already been accepted by scientists, in Poznań at the Department of Urban Green Areas and in some other places. Some new experiments established in Germany, Spain and Switzerland should give satisfactory results in 2011.

At the beginning of 2011 we plan to launch new product - i.e. truffle (Tuber sp.) inoculum for Central Europe and in different composition for Southern Europe. We will use own isolates obtained from sporocarps and mycorrhized trees purchased in Spain, France, Austria and Hungary. We believe that our offer will be broadened by very attractive product and soon our customers in their own big gardens will be able to pick not only boletes but also truffles. Detailed list of truffles species can be found in our offer and growing recommendations should be ready together with first commercial truffle inoculum. We are planning to have a special offer for the first professionals who would like to make mycorrhization of bigger areas. So far we have not established a price yet.

We do not foresee any major modification in system of selling of inocula for home gardening but I would like to appeal to professionals of ordering in advance. Mycorrhization service still will be performed by Mr. Jerzy Nieswdba who as certified tree surgeon will be able to deliver a complex solution for tree management in urban environment as well in parks and gardens.

In New Year 2011 I would like to wish a lot of happiness and good health but also satisfactory effects of mycorrhization and high yield of mushrooms from own gardens.

Opinion on our inocula

Recently, tests for presence of pathogenic fungi in our inocula have been completed. From bottles selected at random at the market some samples were taken by Professor Leszek Orlikowski and than they were transferred to appriopriate growing media. After incubation they were evaluated for presence of Phythophthora and Fusarium. Lack of both patehgenic fungi in our inocula has been confirmed by Professor Orlikowski in attached document.

Spain again!

Beteween 14th and 17th September 2010 on the bahalf of Mykoflor I had a pleasure to visit sunny Spain again. This time I started my “mycorrhiza travel” at Ciudad Real city in a Castilla - La Mancha Province. On plantations belonging to leading Spanish forestry company ENCE under supervision of National Institute for Agriculture and Food Research and Technology (Forest Research Centre) I have established interesting field trail with ectomycorrhizal inoculum made by Mykoflor. On two sites experimental fields were made where plants of eight poplar clones (grown for energy) were treated with mycorrhizal inoculum under conditions of irrigation and without irrigation. Besides of the fact that treatment was done on 14th September temperature was higher than 30 centigrade what can promote rapid development of mycelium and effective inoculation of growing roots by mycorrhizal fungi.

It will be very interesting to paying visit in those plantations in two years time and knowing if there is any clonal response to mycorrhizal fungi. We sincerely believe that the response will be at least such intense as we have observed at Italian poplar growing at Mr. Antonio Ramoz Fenadez’s plantation of poplar in Santa Fe (Andalusia). Presented pictures should be a final piece of evidence even for the most skeptical unbelievers of the sense for ectomycorrhizal fungi application in agriculture and forestry. Under conditions of long-lasting and severe water deficit non-irrigated and treated by Mykoflor inoculum in 2007 poplar harvested first time in the spring 2009 and measured on 16th September showed an average height of 740 cm (the highest stem was 1190 cm high) while weight of fresh matter of single plant was 18.5 kg (the heaviest plant had a weight of 28 kg) what was equal to very high biomass yield 336 tons ha-1 whereas the same parameters for control plants (not irrigated, not inoculated) was height of 230 cm weight of single plant 4.8 kg (was is equal to 57.6 tons ha-1) . At the moment chemical analyses of biomass are being done the same as mycological analyses of sampled roots.

Results achieved at the plantation owned by Mr. Antonio Ramoz Fenadez inspired Research Agricultural Institute in Granada (Andalusia) to start research programme of Mykoflor inocula studies. The experiment was established on 16th September 2010 and we are almost sure that results will be comparable with those gained in Santa Fe and that soon application of ectomycorrhizal inocula will be a standard practice in Spanish energy poplar plantations. We are trusting that such a practice enables to break a deep relation between irrigation and bioenergy production in Spain leading to more sustainable and economically sound method of biomass production basing on saving a very precious natural resources i.e. water.

Visit in Switzerland

Invited by the Delinat Institute we (i.e. Dr A. Klasa, J. Nieswadba and me) went to wine region of Switzerland in vicinity of Sion in Rhine River Valley. Vineyards are growing on very steep slopes of southern exposure and all maintenance jobs are done manually. Planting density ranges from 6,000 to 12,000 plants per hectare and four bunches of grapes on each. The final product is a high quality wines known in Europe sold for good price (from 15 to 60 CHF per bottle).

During our visit at the experimental vineyards belonging to the Institute we have established an experiment at with inoculation of vineyards by four fungal strains. Treated vineyards are grown in an organic system without fertilization, irrigation and without pesticides applications. and we do believe that our mycorrhizal inoculates will bring a lot of beneficial effects for grape-vine and affect wine quality.

The first observations will be performed in the autumn 2010 and we will publish their resuluts on our Website. Enclosed pictures show the site and very nice surroundings.

Vine conference in Kalsk

In January 2010 under auspicious of State Professional High School in Sulechów in area of division in Kalsk had place Sixth Vine Conference. One of subject mentioned was mycorrhiza application in vineyards. We are presenting full materials published in Conference Proceedings. Everyone can see and analyze all results presented in tables.

Moreover, we have received results of sugar concentration analyses from owner of the vineyard Mr. Zolatan. From the table one can conclude the increase of sugar content in relation to the less effective treatment, what can indicate higher difference between the untreated control and the best inoculum. This difference amounts to 2.4% of absolute value what means 12% in relative value. When it is expressed in sugar yield it can be 500 kg of sugar per 1 ha.

There is description of the experiment on mycorrhiza effects on grapes growth under conditions of water deficit conducted by Dr. Marcin Kolasiński - to download the file click here.

There is a very interesting observation concerning the high quality of grapes harvested from mycorrhized plantation made by Mr. Gembara, MsC who was unable to analyse sugar content in the season 2009 because all fruit was eaten by wasps. They could recognize the best grapes!
